For Sit: face your cat and hold a treat in front of him/her. Saying "sit" slowly move the treat slightly up and over its nose. As its head follows the treat, its back end will naturally go into a sit. Immediately give it a treat.
For Lie Down: While its in the sit position, take a treat in your fingers and move it slowly to the ground. As you do this say down. As soon as it goes down, give it the treat. Do not push the cat down, but put a little bit of pressure on the shoulders if you have to.
